"Midwifery: A difference in care; measureable benefits; safe, pure births."

Feel Confident and Secure

Allen Birthing Center is fortunate to have an experienced and highly educated staff. The fact that they possess master's degrees and post-graduate midwifery education as well as many years of experience is unique to this DFW metroplex birth center. In addition to the basic midwifery skills related to pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, these practitioners have successfully completed graduate science courses in anatomy and physiology, reproductive endocrinology, embryology, growth and development, pharmacology, and nutrition. Their preparation has been rounded out with graduate level education in lactation (breastfeeding), childbirth education, and labor support. Don't just take our word for it, though! When you tour the birth center, check out the diplomas and talk one-to-one with the CNM. See and feel the difference!

Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM)

A certified nurse-midwife (CNM) is an individual educated in the two disciplines of nursing and midwifery, who possesses evidence of certification according to the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM).

Nurse-midwifery practice as conducted by CNMs is the independent management of women's health care, focusing on common primary care issues, family planning and gynecological needs of women, pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, and the care of the newborn. The CNM practices within a health care system that provides for consultation, collaborative management, or referral as indicated by the health status of the client. CNMs practice in accordance with the Standards of the Practice of Midwifery, as defined by the ACNM.
